Barbara Cook - She was loved and will be missed by so many here at F.C.C.
I never had a chance to meet many of the owners and tenants here at F.C.C. but it still grieves me when I hear of yet another neighbor who has passed away since Hurricane Katrina. Between the stress of Hurricane Katrina itself and the stressed caused by post-Katrina events, it seems I am hearing about the passing of yet another of our parents and grand-parents far too often.
While sitting around the rear courtyard since Katrina, I regularly hear my neighbors talk about Barbara Cook and the joy and good cooking that she brought to the courtyard gatherings. I only had the opportunity to talk to her on the telephone a few times and I also met and worked alongside her son, Kenny "KC" Cook, who is a true gentleman.
Barbara Cook is another one of the casualties of Katrina and she will be missed by many.
God Bless Her.

Other F.C.C. News
Rumor has it that F.C.C. has contracted with Window World in Kenner, http://www.windowworldinc.com/cgi-bin/stores.cgi?zip=70062&loc=100&distance=0 to finally start replacing the broken out windows caused by Hurricane Katrina. If your unit has a broken out window frame or glass, this damage was covered by the insurance policy with Scottsdale Insurance Company but you never heard about this from "Chet's Board" (Chester Hingle, Jr., a/k/a Chet Hingle, James Williams, Donald Gauthreaux and Sultan Mirza). I made a phone call to Window World at 504-888-4755 and verified that they do have many, many units on their schedule of jobs.
You would think that by now, "Chet's Board" would start communicating with people but they just don't get it!!!!!
Call or email Chet Hingle, 504-234-9980 or James Williams, 504-779-0166 to arrange for your unit to have it's damaged windows repaired/replaced. At least people can start doing their sheetrock repairs once the windows have been repaired.
More News
On this past Saturday evening, there was a small fire involving one of the trash piles in the rear parking lot area behind the north building of the rear courtyard. The trash pile was next to the rear of the building and it could have been disastrous but fortunately, several of us were in the courtyard and smelled the smoke early enough to get the only hose in the courtyard to "fight" the fire and keep the building wet. Thanks go out to the many neighbors, owners and contractors who helped to contain the fire until the Fire Department showed up.
Studies show that lit cigarettes are the leading cause of "mysterious" household fires. Please be careful when smoking in your unit and make sure you put out any cigarettes before throwing them in your garbage or out of your car or home window. You never know where it might end up.
Until next time... let "The Fountain Of Information" flow!!!!!
