LATE BREAKING NEWS -
There was a Board meeting this afternoon and it was attended
by ALL of the Board Members, so hopefully there will be a
memo issued concerning the events that took place at this
Board meeting. From my recent conversations with some of
the members of the Board, I think they are finally leaning
towards issuing a status letter to all of the affected
homeowners on a more frequent basis.
I was also able to ask one of the Board Members this
question....
Is it even legal for the Board to divert flood insurance
proceeds away from the flood victims to be used on some
other common project? Of course, they never answered the
question.
The "insurance money" is actually being paid by a federal
agency (NFIP, a subsidiary of FEMA) and is designated to be
paid to the "victims" of the flood, caused by Hurricane
Katrina. For the Board to try and not pay ALL of the money
to the intended recipients, and then divert the money to
their pet projects or some other uninsured claim, borders on
something that former Governor Edwin Edwards would have
tried and we all know where he is!!!
I hope to see most of you at the "Help Your Neighbor Or Help
Yourself" event being held in the back courtyard on Sunday.
